Speed run of Metroid Zero Mission in 5 segments, completed on April 25 2005. Available in 3 versions: low quality, normal quality, and 60fps high quality. Author's comments: Well, here it is - the first sub-29 minute recorded run in zero mission. I started working on this a day or two after I finished my 29:58 single-segment for SDA. at first, my goal was something like 28:20, but spending weeks on segments (especially the first one) just isn't something I'm into, so after about an hour I...

Speed run of Metroid Zero Mission in 13 segments, done on March 20 2004. Was the first recorded any% run and the record until April 3. Author's comments: My previous best time was 38:46 which I thought was pretty good for me but I knew sub 35s had been done. About a week later I figured I'd try again and actually record it. The only changes I made was getting hi jump and doing more resets because I was recording. I took about an hour to get each of the first three segments, but then I started...

Speed run of Metroid Zero Mission in nine segments, completed on April 3 2004. Was the world record until May 9 2004. Author's comments: Ever since the release of Zero Mission, it seems like no one has cared about any% runs. All the attention and focus was on 100% speed runs, and no one really bothered to really try any% runs. I¹ve always enjoyed any% speed runs more than 100% speed runs, not only in Metroid games, but in video games in general. I'm more interested in what the fastest possible...

Pure speed run of Metroid Zero Mission, completed on July 11 2004. Available in 3 versions: low quality, normal quality, and 60fps high quality. Author's comments: This run is average at best. Although it may not seem like it, I spent very little effort on this run. My goal when I started it was to get a time of under 30 minutes, not to get the fastest possible time I could. Because that was my goal, I slacked off on most of the segments and accepted mistakes that I shouldn't have. I took...

Speed run of Metroid Zero Mission in five segments, completed on May 9 2004. Available in 3 versions: low quality, normal quality, and 60fps high quality. Was the world record until July 11 2004. Author's comments: First, the route credit goes to GameCube04, because I more or less just copied his route. One of the only real differences though, is that I had far less saves (4 total, with 5 segments). This both made it more difficult and faster, although the fact that it was more difficult made...

100% speed run of Metroid Zero Mission on hard mode in 10 segments, completed on February 22 2004. Was the world record until March 11 2004. Author's comments: This run is, that I'm aware of, the current fastest 100% hard for Zero Mission. But of course, since the game is still relatively new, it is far from optimized, and not flawless, either. I know of a couple things that I would do differently my next time through, and am still not very sure if the route I take is the best or not. Still,...

Low% speed run of Metroid Zero Mission on Hard mode in 17 segments, completed on April 11 2004. Author's comments: This run is different from the last one in the approach to the route. Instead of going to get Varia suit, and then going and killing Kraid first, I did neither and instead went to Ridley first. There are a few added tricks here and there, and I feel that I could probably bring it down to 00:48:xx, but right now I'm kinda getting tired of these runs. I hope it entertains you, since...

100% speed run of Metroid Zero Mission on hard mode in 15 segments, completed on March 11 2004. Was the world record until May 1 2004. Author's comments: Hey here's my 1:04:44, it is a little bit different from the 1:11:10, mainly in the approach to the route; the route taken is not very different between each run. Quite a number of changes were the result of suggestions from other players at the ZM gf board. This is pretty much as close as I can get to under an hour 100% on hard right now, so...

Samus' first adventure is retold in Metroid Zero Mission with extra storyline, extra items and on a system with a better graphics processor. This run completes the game with 100% item collection. At least as far as the end-of-game display is concerned. This is an improvement of 2142 frames, or just under 36 seconds, over Dragonfangs previous movie. The improvements comes mainly from greater optimization in movement, and some from better ammo management. See http://tasvideos.org/WhyandHow.html...

Speed run of Metroid Zero Mission on hard mode with 100% item collection in 15 segments, completed on May 1 2004. Available in three versions: low quality, normal quality, and 60fps high quality. Author's comments: First of all, I'd like to thank Scarlet for making the route up in the first place. I basically copied her route, exactly. There were some new tricks that have been discovered since then, but a lot of time it was just walljumping in different places and falling less (which was...

Low% speed run of Metroid Zero Mission on Hard mode in 16 segments, completed on March 28 2004. Was the world record until April 11 2004. Author's comments: I first did a 10% normal run on the emulator around the day after it came out. I used charge as my extra item, and I recorded it as well, only to be shut down with the 'no emulator runs' rule, and while I was kinda mad, it made sense and gave me a reason to buy a gameboy player. Soon after it was discovered that 10% is the lowest possible...

Pure speed run of Metroid Zero Mission on hard mode in eight segments, completed on June 13 2004. Available in three versions: low quality, normal quality, and 60 fps high quality. Author's comments: Route help/credit goes to Radix, who basically told me flat out what would be the best way to go about doing this would be. The main differences in this run and the Normal mode run, are that 1) I did Kraid first. This meant I didn't have Power Grip, and had to do a Horizontal Bomb Jump across the...

Single-segment speed run of Metroid Zero Mission done on April 14 2005. Available in 4 versions: 20 fps normal/low quality, and 60fps high/insane quality. Author's comments: Getting a really good any% time was starting to frustrate me, so I started working on a single-segment run for fun. I like single-segment runs for three main reasons: - you don't have to worry about manipulating luck since you can't save, - the run is done nice and quick, - no one had recorded a single-segment any% run for...

Single-segment 100% speed run of Metroid Zero Mission, done on May 23 2004. Was the world record until July 31 2004. Author's comments: Well, I'd like to thank AJ for the route, which this run closely resembles. There were a couple items I got at different times than he did, but the overall time it takes to get those items is pretty much the same. I originally started doing single segment runs because I was getting extremely frusterated when something wouldn't go perfectly on my segmented runs....

Single-segment 100% speed run of Metroid Zero Mission, done on July 15 2005. Author's comments: Well, this run had 2 route changes from the last one. Well, here we are again...yet another improvement to my own 100% record. There's not actually a lot to say so I'll keep this short. First off, all my boss fights were good this time. Imago Cocoon was especially well done (exactly the way I meant to do it last time). Second, the only major loss I had was in Norfair, in the vertical shaft after Ice...

Low% speed run of Metroid Zero Mission on Hard mode in 10 segments, completed on 4 December 2005. Available in five versions: normal/low quality DivX, and normal/high/low quality H.264 MPEG-4. Author's comments: Introduction: Ekarderif from M2K2 recently started recording a technical demo of a 9% Hard run of this game. Single-segment 100% speed run of Metroid Zero Mission, done on July 31 2004. Available in three versions: low quality, normal quality, and 60fps high quality. Author's comments: Well, this run had 2 route changes from the last one. The 1st is the fact that I skipped Varia completely. It's completely unecessary as long as I take one refill at Hi-Jump that I never used to take, plus the fact that they GIVE it to you later when you obtain the Fully Powered Suit. The 2nd is 1 missile/super missile...

For more details, see http://tasvideos.org/319M.html This GBA game is a remake of the first Metroid game for the NES. However, this game's story continues with some new elements after the destruction of Mother Brain. This movie was made and encoded with an emulator that lags in places where the original game doesn't. The emulator has since been fixed, and so a new version of this movie that will be encoded at the proper speed is in the making. According to the game's internal clock, this...

Yet another Metroid game. This time it's a remake of the NES version with a little bit added on the end. Alot of people find this game too short, and too easy as you can get alot more items than you actually need. The level designers also added a whole bunch of secrets into the game to help people sequence break. Unlike Metroid Fusion where skipping anything gives you one hell of a problem, if it's possible at all. In this run I kill Ridley first, and then Kraid. The same route which was taken...

Speed run of Metroid with both bosses beaten, done on April 17 2004. Available in three versions: low quality, normal quality, and 60 fps high quality. Pure speed run of Metroid II: Return of Samus, completed on March 16 2004. The displayed end time is ignored due to a flaw in the game's saving system which rounds the time down to whole minutes. The listed time is from the start of spawning until saving/the end. Author's comments: I bought metroid 2 off eBay cheap in december 2003 to try a speed run of it, I hadn't played it in about a decade.
